RESUME

Professional Experience as a Judicial Officer

Prior to becoming a full-time neutral, Anthony served as a Court Commissioner in Kern County where he presided over the following types of matters: preliminary hearings in criminal felony matters, family law, domestic violence restraining orders, civil harassment restraining orders, small claims, limited civil, unlawful detainer, traffic and juvenile traffic, child support/AB1058, and misdemeanor jury trials.

Appointment to AAA's Prestigious National Roster of Employment Arbitrators

Based on his years of experience as an employment litigator and his service as a judicial officer, Anthony was appointed to serve as an Arbitrator on the American Arbitration Association's (AAA) prestigious Panel of Employment Arbitrators. While he specializes in employment arbitrations, he is able to arbitrate other civil and business litigation matters, including construction cases.

Passion for Mediation and Helping People Reach Settlements

During his time on the bench in Kern County, Anthony created a civil mediation program for limited civil, small claims, unlawful detainer, and civil harassment matters. Anthony also created a voluntary settlement program for family law matters, and served as a mandatory settlement conference judge for unlimited civil matters. Anthony currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Southern California Mediation Association (SCMA), is a member of the San Fernando Valley Bar Association (SFVBA) ADR Section Committee, and is a member of the prestigious International Academy of Mediators (IAM) Mentorship Program. Anthony was the Chair of the 2025 SCMA Employment Mediation Institute, and was the Chair of the 2026 SCMA Civil and Employment Mediation Institute.

Professional and Academic Training for Mediation and Arbitration

Not only has Anthony attended numerous training sessions, dating back to 2011, to serve as a settlement officer or settlement judge, but he obtained his LL.M. in Dispute Resolution at the Straus Institute at Pepperdine University's Caruso School of Law, which has regularly been ranked the #1 dispute resolution program in the United States, according to U.S. News & World Report, and he is currently an Adjunct Professor of Law at the Straus Institute, where he teaches Arbitration Practice and Advocacy, and Employment Disputes. Anthony previously taught Arbitration in the United States as an Adjunct Lecturer in Law at Gould School of Law at the University of Southern California.

Past Professional Experience in Civil Litigation

Prior to taking the bench, Anthony ran a successful law practice for over a decade, specializing in civil, business, and employment law litigation. During that time, he represented both plaintiffs and defendants, and participated in dozens of mediations. Despite his extensive experience as a trial attorney, Anthony's reputation was that of a staunch, but pragmatic, advocate--often receiving praise from colleagues, opposing attorneys, and judicial officers alike, for his exemplary ethical conduct, courteous and affable demeanor, and his ability to get cases settled.

25 Years in the Legal Industry

In all, Anthony has been in the legal industry for 25 years, including more than 21 as a licensed attorney in California.
